Getting started
Is eleMusic a real company?
Yes. eleMusic is run by eleMusic Inc., a Delaware corporation incorporated in September 2026. It has been live, with paid plans, since October 3, 2026, and Stripe processes every payment. Our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Refund and Cancellation Policy are public in the Legal Center, every station has a preview of about 30 seconds on the stations page, and each location's certificate has a public verification page. eleMusic is not eMusic, the music download store, and not Eleven Music. More about the company.
What is eleMusic?
eleMusic is a background music subscription for US locations, starting with independent dental practices and welcoming clinics and health systems, massage studios and spas, acupuncture clinics, hotels and school teams. It plays 8 instrumental stations, from Calm and Soft Piano to Light Jazz and Elevator Music, on a tablet or laptop connected to your speakers, or cast to your TV, with nothing to install. Original instrumental music, generated and mastered by eleMusic. No vocals, no ads, no commercial recordings. If your team wants hit songs by familiar artists, eleMusic does not offer them. See how eleMusic works.
Is eleMusic only for dental practices?
No. Dental practices are our first launch focus, and the same plans, stations and access code serve every setting that plays background music inside its own US premises: medical and specialty clinics and health systems, massage studios and spas, acupuncture clinics, hotels (reception, lobby, lounge and other common areas your staff operate) and schools using staff-operated background music. Plans are sold to businesses for their US premises. Practice and Clinic are plan names, not requirements about your organization. See who eleMusic is for, with pages for healthcare, massage and spa, acupuncture, hotels and schools. Organizations with purchasing rules, purchase orders or contract requirements should contact us before subscribing.
What about a salon, a veterinary clinic, a physical therapy clinic or an office?
You are welcome. The same catalog and plans apply to any US business playing background music inside its own premises, and a veterinary clinic can start with our page on music for veterinary clinics. Each device picks a station, and a room plays until it is paused. Two things to check first: the stations are instrumental and slow to mid tempo, with no vocals, no hits and no high-energy music, so listen to the previews with the room in mind; and the subscription covers background playback inside your location only, not events, classes, video, phone hold or another site. Tell us the type of location, the rooms and how many devices would play at once: hello@elemusic.fm.
Can guests, patients or students control the music?
Room devices are set up and operated by your staff. Guests, patients, visitors and students hear the music but do not use the service, and they need no account or code (Terms, Section 3.1). A staff member picks the station on the device or from the Rooms panel, and an owner or administrator can pause or change every room from the office. If you want music in hotel guest rooms, email hello@elemusic.fm first and describe the setup.
What equipment do we need?
A tablet, a laptop or a desktop computer, connected to the room's speakers or casting to the room's TV, and an internet connection, because the music streams to each device. There is no player box to buy and nothing to install. On an iPad, open the player in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen so it opens in one tap. Not every device or browser is supported (Terms, Section 7.4), so try the player on a device before you rely on it. Our sound setup guide covers devices, speakers and rooms.
How do we set up eleMusic?
An owner or administrator starts a 14-day trial: create an account with Google or with an email and password, name the location, and pick a plan by answering one question in the player, "How many devices will play at the same time?" Count devices, not rooms (see what counts as a device). Checkout happens on a page hosted by Stripe. Then open elemusic.fm/play on each room device, enter the access code and choose a station. 14-day trial. Card required, nothing due at checkout. See setup, step by step.
We have several offices. How do we set them up?
Use one owner account for all of them. Set up the first office, then choose Add a location in Manage locations for each of the others. Every location gets its own plan, access code, 14-day trial (card required) and certificate, and the Location menu in Manage locations picks the office you are working on. Five or more locations take 15% off every location. See multi-location pricing.
Do our staff need their own accounts?
No. Staff connect a room by entering the access code on the room device, with an optional room name such as "Treatment room 2". Room devices have no accounts, names or email addresses. Only the owner or administrator who set up the location signs in, to manage the location, its devices, billing and the certificate. Each location has one owner sign-in today.
Is eleMusic available outside the US?
No. eleMusic is available in the US. Plans are sold only to businesses for use at their own premises, and every location must be in one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia, with a US billing address. A location whose billing address at checkout is outside the US is blocked and any payment is refunded. Anyone who creates an account or subscribes must be at least 18. To use the player, the apps or a room device you must be at least 13, and someone aged 13 to 17 needs the permission of a parent or legal guardian or, for a room device, of the practice (Terms, Section 3; the billing address rule is in Section 14.14).
Devices and rooms
What counts as a device?
A device is one stream: a tablet feeding the ceiling speakers in several rooms counts once. Plans count the devices playing at the same time, not rooms or speakers. Any number of devices can join with your access code, but only as many as your plan allows can play at once (Terms, Section 7.2). See the plans.
Can the waiting room and treatment rooms play different stations?
Yes. Every device picks its own station, so the waiting room can play Classical while the hygiene rooms play Calm. Staff change a room's station on its device, and an owner or administrator can also change it from the Rooms panel in the web player.
What happens if one more device tries to play than our plan allows?
It waits instead of playing. The room shows "All devices are in use" and asks staff to have their administrator add a device ($4 a month, or $40 a year on an annual plan). It checks again every 5 minutes and starts on its own once a device is free. An owner or administrator can add a device from the web player, and it takes effect right away.
Can the front desk control the music in other rooms?
Yes, from the Rooms panel. An owner or administrator signed in to the web player can see what every room is playing and change its station, play, pause or skip from the office, or use Play all, Pause all and Change every room to. Only rooms connected with the access code can be controlled this way, and when a room plays in a browser, its volume is set on the device itself.
Can the music start and stop with office hours?
Not on a schedule today: the player has no timer. A room plays from the time a station is picked until it is paused, on the device or from the Rooms panel, where Pause all sends a pause to every connected room and Play all asks them to play again.
Does eleMusic work with ceiling speakers or Bluetooth speakers?
Yes. The player sends its sound wherever the room device sends sound, so plug the tablet or laptop into the amplifier that drives your ceiling speakers, or pair a Bluetooth speaker in the device's own settings. A device is one stream: a tablet feeding the ceiling speakers in several rooms counts once. Our sound setup guide walks through each connection.
Will it work on our front-desk computer and the TVs in our rooms?
A laptop or desktop computer can be a room device: the player runs in a current web browser. Every sound that computer makes, such as a scheduling alert, plays through the same speakers, so a computer or tablet used only for music is simpler. For a TV, cast to it from a tablet or laptop (see the next question). We have not tested the web browsers built into smart TVs, so we do not recommend opening the player in one. Our sound setup guide has the browser table and what to check before you rely on a device.
Can we play through a TV, Chromecast or AirPlay speaker?
Yes, from a browser that supports it. On a computer, Chrome and Edge show a Cast button for Chromecast devices, and so does Chrome on an Android tablet. Safari on a Mac, and every browser on an iPhone or iPad, shows AirPlay for AirPlay speakers and TVs instead. Firefox has no casting button. Casting depends on that third-party technology, the receiver and your network, and we have not tested every combination, so try it on your own TV or speaker before you rely on it. You can also connect the device to your speakers directly.
What happens if the Wi-Fi or internet connection drops?
The music streams, so every device that plays needs a working connection. If it drops, the player shows "Reconnecting" and keeps trying on its own, and the music starts again when the connection is back, with no one touching the device. eleMusic does not promise that the service will be uninterrupted, and you are responsible for your own internet connection (Terms, Sections 7.4 and 7.5). Our sound setup guide covers what the office Wi-Fi needs to do.
Can one access code work at two offices?
No. Each location needs its own plan and access code, and a code may be used only at the location it was set up for. Add a second office with Add a location in the web player; it gets its own plan, access code and certificate. If a code is ever shared outside your office, choose Replace code: every room device signs out and needs the new code (Terms, Section 8.2).
Stations and the music
Which station suits a spa, a hotel lobby, a clinic or a school reception?
Choose by the sound, not by an expected effect on anyone. Ambient has no melody and no beat, so it sits under conversation in any room. Soft Piano and Acoustic Guitar are quiet and slow, with no drums, for treatment rooms, massage rooms and quiet lounges. Elevator Music is old-school easy listening with a soft bossa sway, for lobbies and hallways. Light Jazz and Tropical have a light pulse, for reception and front desks. Calm and Classical round out the eight. Each device picks its own station, and the suggestions are only suggestions. Each station has a preview of about 30 seconds on the stations page.
What stations does eleMusic have?
eleMusic has 8 instrumental music stations: Acoustic Guitar, Light Jazz, Ambient, Elevator Music, Tropical, Soft Piano, Calm and Classical. You can hear a preview of each on the stations page: a separate piece of about 30 seconds, made from the station's own recipe and mastered like its tracks, which run longer. Each station's own page lists its tempo range, typical track length, most common keys and styles.
Which station suits which room?
Each station has a suggested room. It is only a suggestion: a room can play whichever station suits it.
- Acoustic Guitar: Treatment rooms and waiting room
- Light Jazz: Waiting room and front desk
- Ambient: Any room
- Elevator Music: Waiting room and hallways
- Tropical: Waiting room and front desk
- Soft Piano: Treatment rooms and waiting room
- Calm: Treatment rooms
- Classical: Waiting room and hallways
More in our guides to waiting room music and treatment room music.
Does the music have vocals, ads or DJs?
No. No vocals, no ads, no commercial recordings. There are no DJs or announcements either: one track fades into the next, and every station is instrumental from start to finish.
Does eleMusic play hit songs or well-known artists?
No. Every station plays original instrumental music, generated and mastered by eleMusic. There are no chart songs or familiar artist recordings, so if your team wants current hits, eleMusic is not built for that. Listen to the previews on the stations page before you start a trial.
Is the music made with AI?
Yes. The music is original audio generated and mastered by eleMusic. We create it with generative AI models, including models provided by third parties, and eleMusic checks and masters the audio before it enters the catalog. No human composer or performer writes or records it. "Original" means only that a track was generated for eleMusic's catalog and was not copied by eleMusic from existing commercial recordings. It is not a promise about copyright, uniqueness or resemblance to other music (Terms, Section 6.1). Your certificate and the track information may name the model or tool used. More in how the music is made.
Is the music exclusive to our location?
No. AI models can produce similar results for different users, so audio that is the same as or similar to eleMusic's tracks may be generated for, or used by, others (Terms, Section 10.3). Your plan is for playback through the eleMusic player, as background audio inside your location and on no more devices at a time than your plan allows, while the plan is active (Terms, Section 9.1). It does not transfer ownership of any track.
Do tracks repeat during the day?
They can, if a room plays one station long enough. Each device plays its station in its own shuffled order and works through the station before starting over, so how soon a track comes back depends on the station's size. Station sizes change over time: eleMusic may add, change or remove tracks, and does not promise new music on any schedule (Terms, Section 7.1).
What if a track does not suit our location?
Press Flag this track in the player. The room moves on to the next track, and a flagged track may be taken out of rotation for every customer while eleMusic reviews it. eleMusic decides whether to keep, change or remove it (Terms, Section 7.7).
Pricing and the trial
How much does eleMusic cost?
Plans are per location and differ only in how many devices play at once: Solo is $15 a month for 1 device, Practice is $24 for up to 5 devices, and Clinic is $49 for up to 15 devices. Extra devices are $4 a month each. Every plan includes every music station and a certificate. Prices in US dollars, plus applicable sales tax. Prices as of October 12, 2026. See full pricing.
Which plan do we need?
Count the devices that will play at the same time, not the rooms or speakers. Checkout asks that one question and suggests the plan that costs least for that number. Solo covers 1 device, and Solo plus extra devices costs less for 2 or 3. Practice costs less from 4 to 11 devices, with extra devices above 5, and Clinic from 12 up, with extra devices above 15. Our guide to what dental office music costs compares the ways services price.
How do we add a device or change our plan?
An extra device is $4 a month or $40 a year, on any plan. An owner or administrator adds one from the web player; it works right away, and the prorated charge for the rest of the period is added to your next invoice. Plan and device changes are made in Manage billing, may be prorated as shown before you confirm, and any credit goes toward future charges rather than back to the card (Terms, Section 14.6).
Is there a free trial, and does it need a card?
Yes to both. New locations start with a 14-day trial. A card is required and nothing is due at checkout. A reminder goes to the billing email before the trial ends, and you can cancel in Manage billing or by emailing hello@elemusic.fm. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the card is charged the plan price when it ends. Each location gets at most one trial, so a location that subscribes again later starts a paid plan straight away (Refund and Cancellation Policy, Section 3).
How do annual plans work?
Annual plans cost ten times the monthly price, so two months are free. Solo is $150 a year, Practice $240 and Clinic $490, and extra devices are $40 a year each. An annual plan is charged in advance and renews for another year unless you cancel before the renewal date, and checkout asks you to confirm that with a checkbox (Terms, Section 14.4).
Is there a discount for several locations?
Yes. Five or more locations take 15% off every location. The discount applies automatically while the same owner account holds five or more locations on active, trialing or past-due plans, and comes off if that number drops below five (Terms, Section 14.8). Offices set up under different owner accounts are not counted together. The discount covers each location's plan and its extra devices, on monthly or annual billing, and a location already on a plan gets it from its next invoice. A period already paid is not re-priced, so a location on annual billing sees it at its next renewal. Each location keeps its own plan, access code and certificate. More on multi-location pricing.
Billing and cancelling
How do we pay, and what shows on our statement?
By credit or debit card, on checkout and billing pages hosted by Stripe, our payment provider. eleMusic Inc. is the seller, and the charge appears on your statement under a name that includes ELEMUSIC. Each billing period is charged at its start (Terms, Section 14.5). Each location is billed on its own: it has its own checkout (the card is entered once for each location), its own trial, renewal date and invoice. A group with five locations sees five ELEMUSIC charges, and there is no combined invoice.
What happens when the trial ends?
Unless you cancel before it ends, the paid plan starts and your card is charged the plan price, plus any applicable tax, that day. The plan then renews every month or year until you cancel. If that first charge fails, the music stops until a payment succeeds. To avoid any charge, cancel before the trial ends in Manage billing or by emailing hello@elemusic.fm; the location keeps playing until the trial ends (Refund and Cancellation Policy, Section 3).
How do we cancel?
Cancel anytime in Manage billing, or by emailing hello@elemusic.fm. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for. In the web player, an owner or administrator signs in, opens Manage locations, picks the location and chooses Manage billing; no phone call is needed. Each location has its own plan, so cancelling one does not cancel the others. Details are in the Refund and Cancellation Policy.
Do you give refunds?
Usually not for the unused part of a month or a year. eleMusic refunds in full a charge made by mistake, a duplicate charge, a charge made after a cancellation took effect, and a charge for a location outside the US that was blocked before it could play. The Terms also refund prepaid fees for the rest of a period in three narrow cases, such as eleMusic ending a paid plan with notice. Card refunds usually appear about 5 to 10 business days after they are issued, depending on your bank (Refund and Cancellation Policy, Sections 4 and 5).
What happens if a payment fails?
If a renewal payment fails, eleMusic retries it for up to about two weeks while the music keeps playing, and an owner or administrator can update the card or pay the open invoice in Manage billing during that time. If it still fails, the plan is canceled and the music at that location stops. To play again, an owner starts a new paid plan, with no new trial. The first charge after a trial is different: if it fails, the music stops until a payment succeeds (Refund and Cancellation Policy, Sections 3 and 6).
Licensing and PRO letters
This page is general information about US law and business music services. It is not legal advice, and reading it does not create an attorney-client relationship. For advice about your practice, talk to a lawyer.
eleMusic is PRO-free: it never registers its tracks with ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or GMR, so there is no performing rights fee for the music you play through eleMusic. Radio, TV, music on hold and any other music you play still need their own licenses. We cannot control or verify what others register, and we do not promise that no PRO or other person will contact you or make a claim. The certificate describes our catalog and your subscription; it does not determine your practice's legal obligations. The certificate is not a license from any performing rights organization and is not legal advice.
ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and GMR are trademarks of their respective owners. eleMusic is not affiliated with or endorsed by any performing rights organization.
Is eleMusic PRO-free?
Yes. eleMusic is PRO-free: it never registers its tracks with ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or GMR, so there is no performing rights fee for the music you play through eleMusic. Radio, TV, music on hold and any other music you play still need their own licenses. We cannot control or verify what others register, and we do not promise that no PRO or other person will contact you or make a claim. Our page on PRO-free music explains what that means for your location.
Do we pay ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or GMR for eleMusic music?
No. eleMusic is PRO-free: it never registers its tracks with ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or GMR, so there is no performing rights fee for the music you play through eleMusic. Your right to play it comes from eleMusic, under our Terms (Section 9.1). Radio, TV, music on hold and any other music you play still need their own licenses. We cannot control or verify what others register, and we do not promise that no PRO or other person will contact you or make a claim.
Is eleMusic an alternative to ASCAP and BMI licensed music?
Yes, to commercial background music licensed through ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or GMR. eleMusic is PRO-free: it never registers its tracks with ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or GMR, so there is no performing rights fee for the music you play through eleMusic. It is not a license for anything else you play: Radio, TV, music on hold and any other music you play still need their own licenses. Compare services quotes how each one describes its licensing.
Do we still need an ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or GMR license?
Not for eleMusic music. eleMusic is PRO-free: it never registers its tracks with ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or GMR, so there is no performing rights fee for the music you play through eleMusic. Whether your business needs a license for anything else it plays depends on your business and on what that is, and it is a question for your own lawyer, not for eleMusic. The certificate describes our catalog and your subscription; it does not determine your practice's legal obligations. Other music, radio, TV and on-hold audio are outside its scope. You are responsible for licensing any other music or audio you play. Ask your own lawyer if you are unsure. The Terms also make you responsible "for deciding what licenses your business needs" (Terms, Section 11.2). Our guide Do dental offices need a music license? explains public performance and the questions to ask.
Does eleMusic register its music with ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or GMR?
No. eleMusic does not register its generated catalog with ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or GMR. It does not license its catalog through any performing rights organization either, and nothing in your plan or certificate is a license from one. We cannot control or verify what others register, and we do not promise that no PRO or other person will contact you or make a claim. Our guide to ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and GMR explains who they are.
What is the Original Catalog Certificate?
Every location with an active plan or trial gets an Original Catalog Certificate in its name. It is a single public web page that describes the catalog, records the periods the location's plan was active and shows its current status on the day anyone checks. There is no separate document: an owner opens it with View certificate in the web player, and can print it or save it as a PDF from the browser. The certificate describes our catalog and your subscription; it does not determine your practice's legal obligations. The certificate is not a license from any performing rights organization and is not legal advice. See what the certificate covers, and what it does not.
What should we do if a PRO sends us a letter?
Don't ignore it. Forward it to us. We aim to send your certificate, the verification link and a response template within 2 business days. That is a target, not a promise. The address is hello@elemusic.fm. Our reply is not legal advice and eleMusic is not your lawyer: you are responsible for your reply and for describing accurately all the audio you play (Terms, Section 11.4). Our guide Got a letter from ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or GMR? lists what to gather before you answer.
Can we use eleMusic for music on hold, videos or social media?
No. Your eleMusic plan is for playback inside your location through the eleMusic player only. Music on hold, phone systems, video, social media, websites, broadcast, recording and use at any other place are not included (Terms, Section 9.2). Our guide to TV, video and hold music lists the questions those raise.
Can we play Spotify or another personal streaming account in our office, spa, hotel or school instead?
Personal streaming accounts are licensed for personal, non-commercial use, which is why business music services exist. Spotify's own support page, as of October 10, 2026, says "Spotify is only for personal, non-commercial use" and that "you can’t broadcast or play Spotify publicly from a business". Our guides to Spotify in a dental office and Pandora, Apple Music, YouTube and SiriusXM at work quote each service's own terms.
Privacy
Does eleMusic collect patient information?
No microphone, no patient information, ever. eleMusic plays music and does not need, ask for or use information about your patients. Keep patient names and details out of everything you type into eleMusic, including practice names, room names (a room's name goes with any track it flags), support requests and emails to us (Privacy Policy, Section 2).
Is eleMusic a HIPAA business associate?
No. eleMusic's Terms say it "does not perform any function or activity for you that involves PHI" and "is not your business associate under HIPAA" (Terms, Section 12.2). The service is not designed to receive patient information, so keep all patient details out of it. Our guide to background music and front desk privacy explains why background music is not sound masking and does not make conversations private.
What does eleMusic record about our room devices?
When a room device connects, eleMusic records its optional room name, its browser or device type and the IP address it connected from, and while it plays, the time of its last check-in, so it can apply your plan's device allowance. A room connected with the access code also reports what it is playing now (the station, the track title, where the sound goes and, where the device allows, its volume), so the owner or administrator can see it in the Rooms panel; each report replaces the one before. eleMusic does not build or keep a listening history for any room or person. Request logs kept by eleMusic's hosting and storage providers, and its diagnostic data, can show which station or track a device requested, with its IP address and the time, for the limited periods the Privacy Policy sets (Privacy Policy, Sections 3.3 and 10).
Does eleMusic sell personal information, show ads or use personal information to train AI?
No. eleMusic does not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising, shows no ads, and uses no advertising pixels or advertising cookies. It does not use your personal information, your practice's information or anything you enter in eleMusic to make music, and does not use personal information to train or improve AI models. The catalog is made in advance, separately from your use of the service (Privacy Policy, Sections 6 and 8).
Is our certificate page public?
Yes, to anyone with its link or certificate number. It shows the practice name, city and state, whether the certificate is active and the dates it was active, so you can show it to anyone who asks about your music. eleMusic asks search engines not to index certificate pages, but cannot stop someone who has the link from sharing it (Privacy Policy, Section 7.3).
