Music for the rooms where your patients rest
Slow instrumental stations for treatment rooms and the community room, and something brighter for the front desk, run from the device in each room.
eleMusic plays original instrumental music in acupuncture clinics in the US. Each device picks its own station: a slow station with no beat in the treatment rooms and the community room, something lighter at the front desk, and each room keeps playing until someone pauses it. Nothing about a patient is needed to connect a room. One access code covers every room, and whoever manages the account can see and control the rooms from the web player.
What plays well while needles are in?
The two stations with no beat. Ambient has no melody either, at 50 to 70 beats per minute: warm pads, soft drones and airy textures. Calm has melodies you can follow: slow, simple tunes on felt piano, electric piano and warm strings. Soft Piano (one acoustic piano) and Acoustic Guitar add a melody to a room; Classical and Light Jazz suit the waiting area and the front desk.
On the room device, one track fades into the next, so there is no gap of silence inside a session. (A room that casts to a TV or network speaker gets a short pause between tracks instead.) Providence Community Acupuncture's FAQ, read on October 12, 2026, says its treatment rooms have "white noise" between the chairs. We describe our sound only, no beat, no vocals, no ads, a fade between tracks, and claim nothing about what it does for anyone in the room.
A treatment room can stay on Ambient or Calm from opening to close: each device plays its station in its own shuffled order and works through the station before starting over.
How does a community room with recliners work?
One device for the room counts once, however many recliners it holds or speakers the amplifier drives. A device is one stream: a tablet feeding the ceiling speakers in several rooms counts once.
Community clinics treat several people at once in one open room. Sarana Community Acupuncture's about page, read on October 12, 2026, says: "In our clinic we primarily treat clients in recliners, clustered in an open and peaceful space." Providence Community Acupuncture asks patients to "speak softly", suggests they stay "30 minutes minimum" and allows "60 minutes maximum".
The practitioner moves from recliner to recliner and cannot stop to touch a screen, so the routine is short: pick the station on the room device at opening, set the volume on the device or the speaker, and leave it. A station plays until it is paused, and Ambient has no melody to follow, which is why we suggest it first where every conversation is a whisper. At closing, pause from the device or from the Rooms panel in the web player, which also lets a group clinic's front desk pause or change any room without opening the door. There is no timer or schedule today, and the device must stay awake with the player open; the sound setup guide covers that and the speaker, and how eleMusic works covers the panel.
What does a solo clinic pay, and a group clinic?
Most acupuncture clinics fit Solo or Practice. In the NCCAOM 2024 Job Analysis, as reported by Acupuncture Today in May 2025, 70% of respondents work in private practice, 25% in a group practice or clinic and 12% in a hospital-based practice (more than one answer was allowed), and 63% practice part-time; a count as of January 1, 2018, published in a peer-reviewed journal, found 37,886 actively licensed acupuncturists in the US. A solo clinic that runs one speaker for the whole suite has one device.
| Setup | Devices playing at once | Plan | A month |
|---|---|---|---|
| One room and the waiting area on one speaker or amplifier | 1 | Solo | $15 |
| A treatment-room device plus a waiting-area device | 2 | Solo plus 1 extra device | $19 |
| A community room and reception, each on its own device | 2 | Solo plus 1 extra device | $19 |
| Four treatment rooms and reception, each on a device | 5 | Practice (up to 5 devices) | $24 |
Clinic is a plan name, $49 a month for up to 15 devices; a one-device acupuncture clinic uses Solo. Extra devices are $4 a month each on any plan. Prices in US dollars, plus applicable sales tax. The pricing page has the lowest-cost plan for every device count and the rule for several locations.
New locations start with a 14-day trial. A card is required and nothing is due at checkout. A reminder goes to the billing email before the trial ends, and you can cancel in Manage billing or by emailing hello@elemusic.fm. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the card is charged the plan price when it ends.
Does eleMusic need any patient information?
No. No microphone, no patient information, ever. A room connects with the access code and a label, nothing else. Label devices by place (Room 1, Community room, Front desk), never by a patient, and keep patient details out of flagged-track notes and emails to us (Terms, Section 12.1). The business associate question is answered in the FAQ; we do not restate it here.
eleMusic is background ambience only: not a medical product, not for use as part of clinical care or treatment, and you must not make, or attribute to eleMusic, any health claim about it, including in advertising to patients (Section 12.3). You decide where, when and how loudly it plays, and the Terms ask you to accommodate anyone who prefers no music (Section 12.4).
Do we still need a music license?
This page is general information about US law and business music services. It is not legal advice, and reading it does not create an attorney-client relationship. For advice about your practice, talk to a lawyer.
Your attorney answers that for your clinic; this page does not. The facts that bear on it:
Personal streaming accounts are licensed for personal, non-commercial use, which is why business music services exist. Spotify's support page, read on October 12, 2026, says "Spotify is only for personal, non-commercial use" and that "you can’t broadcast or play Spotify publicly from a business".
eleMusic does not register its generated catalog with ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or GMR. Every location with an active plan or trial gets an Original Catalog Certificate in its name. The certificate describes our catalog and your subscription; it does not determine your practice's legal obligations. You are responsible for licensing any other music or audio you play. Ask your own lawyer if you are unsure. The certificate page explains the document, and the letter guide says what to do if ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or GMR writes.
The subscription covers eleMusic's music played through the eleMusic player inside your premises, within your device allowance. It does not cover music on hold, use in or with video, an event or any use where the music is "a featured attraction rather than background ambience", or audio sent to a patient outside the premises (Terms, Section 9.2); a radio at the desk or a TV in the waiting room is outside the subscription.
Questions for your attorney: which audio sources play in each room, including the phone system and any TV; whether a private room, a shared community room and the waiting area are treated the same way; and which documents to keep, such as the certificate and the Terms. Our guide to ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and GMR quotes each one on licensing businesses. For the license names each organization uses by type of business, see Do you need a license to play music in your business?
eleMusic is PRO-free: it never registers its tracks with ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or GMR, so there is no performing rights fee for the music you play through eleMusic. Radio, TV, music on hold and any other music you play still need their own licenses. We cannot control or verify what others register, and we do not promise that no PRO or other person will contact you or make a claim. The certificate describes our catalog and your subscription; it does not determine your practice's legal obligations. The certificate is not a license from any performing rights organization and is not legal advice.
ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and GMR are trademarks of their respective owners. eleMusic is not affiliated with or endorsed by any performing rights organization.
Ready to try it in one room?
Listen to the 8 stations on the speaker you would use, at session level. If you are authorized to accept the business Terms for your clinic, start a trial for your location and connect the first room with its access code. 14-day trial. Card required, nothing due at checkout. Existing clinics sign in or connect a room with the code.
An acupuncturist inside a larger medical office should read the healthcare page; who it's for lists the other settings we serve. Email hello@elemusic.fm with the rooms and devices you have in mind, without patient information.
